What an awesome way to kick off
September, our peak season for bill fishing, with a (pending) new Virginia State
Record Swordfish!! Congratulations to Joseph T. Harris of Virginia Beach, VA for
reeling in a 446 lb Swordfish, breaking the current record of 381 lbs 8 oz
caught in 1978! Looks like this is a weight that will be hard to beat. This fish
was 152 1/2 inches in length with a girth of 62", a beautiful fish in all.
Offshore fishing today was
great! From trolling to deep dropping, fishing was hot! The deep
droppers had a great catch of tilefish and even managed to bail a few Mahi-Mahi.
The trolling boats caught some great Marlin and also caught some meat fish.
