Black Sea Bass: 5 lbs 15 oz caught by Steve Elling of Hampton, VA
Today was the first day any of
our boats left the docks since the string of high weather and rough seas this
past week. It seems the fishing has gotten EVEN better since before the blow.
The headboats brought in a lot of REALLY nice sized Sea Bass and Triggerfish
while some of the charter boats have already started to roll back in from
offshore with Wahoo, Dolphin, Skip Jacks and, of course, Marlin flags flying!
We're still waiting on a few more boats to come in so check back later to see
how they did!

FINAL UPDATE:
The last boat got to the docks at 8:05p.m.
sporting an entire outrigger full of 14 white marlin flags being flickering
against Rudee Inlet bridges navigational lights as the boat entered the inlet.
The rest of the marina had fallen calm and there was only a few mates about
rigging for their trips today.... but with a consistent string of flags flying,
every time a boat came back to the dock today, only one thing can really
be taken from these trips..... ONCE IN A LIFETIME!!!!
White marlin used to be more
of an elusive fish, and catching 5 or 6 white marlin was almost unheard of in
offshore fishing.... but now we are seeing numbers such as 5, 8, 10, and 14+
regularly!!
Ten years ago these types of
number of fish was almost unheard of in the fishing world, ..... but with our
consistent catches of 6-42 white marlin,
Virginia Beach has very
quickly become the
NEW WHITE MARLIN
CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!!!
Take advantage of the fishing while
you can, get on a make up charter or book your boat ASAP!! A few boats are still
available for tomorrow and during the week.
