First Day of the Rockfish Shootout!

by | Dec 10, 2015

Today At The Marina:

This morning has been a little foggy, but it’s quickly clearing up and going to turn into a beautiful day with a high of 64 degrees. There are NW winds blowing 5 to 10 knots becoming N early in the afternoon and then becoming SE late. Seas are 2 to 3 feet with mainly E swells with a dominant period of 9 seconds. It should be beautiful day out on the water.

Offshore:

The Tuna are biting offshore in decent numbers. The deep drop catch has continued to produce a nice haul of fish as well consisting of Tilefish, Barrel Fish, Black Bellied Rose Fish, and Black Sea Bass.

Inshore:

Today is the first day of the Mid Atlantic Rockfish Shootout. Reports are that the Rockfish are still far up into the bay. Check back with us later for any reports of fish being weighed. We hope to see some action later on the docks to kick off this tournament!

Rudee Inlet:

The inlet here is still producing some Speckled Trout. Most are throw back, but there are some nice keepers in the mix as well. We have also heard reports of Puppy Drum being caught as well. The hot bait to use is chartreuse Gulp with a light jig head.
