Billfish and Bottom Fish

by | Jul 27, 2017

Offshore:

Offshore today we had the Rebel, who came back to the docks with a White Marlin flag flying above their both. Additionally, we had the Top Notch Offshore who caught 5 White Marlin and a Hammerhead. The Backlash and Instigator also went offshore and were able to catch Sea bass and Tilefish.

The Offshore boats have been returning with some nice catches of Mahi, as well as a few Yellowfin Tuna and Wahoo in the mix of things. The Billfish have started to bite more steadily. In recent days we have seen some release flags for White and Blue Marlin, as well as a few Sailfish. Some anglers have been deep dropping and catching some nice Blueline Tilefish, Black Sea Bass, Barrelfish, Black Bellied Rose Fish, and a handful of Golden Tilefish.

Inshore:

This morning we had the WaveRunner and High Hopes fishing inshore. They both returned to the docks with some nice catches of Spanish Mackerel.

The inshore boats have been bringing in some nice catches of Spanish Mackerel, with a handful of Bluefish in the mix of things, as well as having some luck with catching some big Red Drum. There are some Cobia still lingering around, though the bite is pretty scattered. Some anglers have been having a great time catching and releasing some small sharks. On the Nearshore trips anglers have been returning with some nice catches of Spadefish.

Rudee Inlet:

Croaker and Spot have been biting in recent days, hitting best on live bloodworms or squid. Flounder continue to bite on Gulp on a light jig head or live minnows, with more and more keepers starting to be caught.
