Tuna On the Dock This Morning & A Citation King Mackerel This Afternoon

by | Jul 12, 2015

Offshore:

This morning we were met by one of our private boats who returned late last night with a beautiful 185 pound Big Eye Tuna (that got attacked by a shark during the fight). They also had several nice Mahi as well as some Rose Fish in the mix. Today the winds were not cooperating with us for great fishing conditions offshore, leaving the boats to stay dockside.

Inshore:

The inshore bite remains steady with nice catches of Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish. Once the seas laid down a little bit this afternoon, fishing picked up. We had several nice hauls of the Blues and Mackerel, and even had a citation sized King Mackerel hit the docks weighing in at 42 pounds!

Rudee Inlet:

The bite inside of Rudee inlet has been mostly Croaker and Spot, with live bloodworms being the choice of bait here in recent days.  We have seen some really nice catches of Puppy Drum here recently, being caught on both cut bait as well as some light weight artificial swimming baits. There has been some Flounders caught as well, with a few of them being legal to keep. The popular bait for Flounders has been live minnows.
