Warmer Weather, Great Fishing Coming Soon

Rudee Inlet:

Inside Rudee Inlet lately has been a really diverse bite. We have continued to have some nice Bluefish and Speckled Trout being caught, though this bite has begun to slow. There are some small throwback Rockfish being caught, as well as a few flounder being caught with the occasional keeper. Today, we had reports of some Shad being caught.  Popular baits have been Gulp on a light jig head and MirroLures for artificial baits. Those of you who prefer to fish using a bottom rig would be best of using either Finger Mullet or squid.

Inshore:

The inshore bite has not really taken off yet, but we are starting to see a rise in water temperatures. There are some Bluefish that are starting to be caught along the Virginia coast, as well as a bunch of Skate as well. Before long we should start having some of the fleet return with some really nice Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish. The inshore trips will also start having a great time catching and releasing some small sharks.

Offshore:

Offshore fishing is starting to heat up. We have had some reports of some really nice catches of Yellowfin Tuna and Mahi, as well as the occasional Wahoo. We are hoping to get the fleet out soon to start bringing back some meat to the dock. Today, we weighed in a beautiful citation 9 lb 9 oz Tautog!

The Rudee Angler, of the head boat fleet is offshore today on a deep drop trip. They will be returning late tonight so be sure to check back with us tomorrow for the latest offshore bottom fishing report.
